There are various understanding of Four Bosatsu according to each sutra as the following.
Kegon Sutra
The four of the upper ranked Bosatsu teaching other bosatsu who joined the meeting of Kegon Sutra(Flower Garland Sutra).
Houe Bosatsu: Preaches Juujuu of laws(mind of attainment of enlightenment)
Koutokurin Bosatsu: Preaches Juugyou of laws(practice of attainment of enlightenment)
Kongou-ka Bosatsu: Preaches Juuekou of laws(review of attainment of enlightenment)
Kongou-zou Bosatsu: Preaches Juuchi of laws(complete attainment of enlightenment)
The discipline of Bosatsu has five ranks; They are Juushin, Juu-chuu, Juugyou, Juuekou, and Juuchi (Juu means10). Juuchi is the highest rank.
Dainichi Sutra
The four bosatsu are sitting in the four direction in Taizoukai Mandala(Womb World)
Fugen Bosatsu: Southeast
Monju Bosatsu: Southwest
Kanjizai Bosatsu: Northwest
Miroku Bosatsu: Northeast
Kongouchou Sutra
The four bosatsu who are sitting by the Dainichi

The Four Great Bosatsu

Kyo). These four bosatsu were directly taught by Eternal Buddha(Shaka Nyorai)
