Daruma(Bodhidharma) [Tatsuma Taishi]

He is thought to be the founder of Chinese Zen because he brought back Zen to China from India. He was born as the third son of a king in South India. Succeeding the low of Parajintara, he went to Guangzhou in China in the beginning of the 6th century. Thought he met Emperor Wu of Lian China, he failed. He crossed the Yangtze and entered Shaolin-temple in Mt Song. At that time Emperor Xiao Ming Di in Northern Wei heard his reputation and invited him again and again, however, he never accepted it and kept still sitting in meditation facing the wall for nine years. Daruma san sitting still facing the wall in meditation is famous and Shoalin school of Chinese martial arts is also famous.
