Tenjin

Gozu Tennoo

Gozu Tennoo is originally from India and he is worshipped as the divine protector of Gionshoja in Japan. He is Suijakushin (a transformation of Yakushi Nyorai) and he was worshipped in Yasaka-shrine in Kyoto, This is why he is also called Gion Tenjin (Gion is the area that Yasaka-shrine is located in). He takes a variety of forms, however he commonly wears a cow head on his own 3-faced head, wears armor and has a wrathful appearance.
