Tenjin

Nioo(Kongou Rikishi)

This image is also called Nioo. He is also called Kongo-shu because he always guards with a diamond stick. He is one the Twenty Eight Guardians. Kongou Rikishi is the general name for the demon deities who guard and protect the Buddhist world. Also, the left is called Missha Kongou, the right is called Mishabe Kongou. Missha means to know the secret things attending close to Buddha. He appears in anger, many of them have naked upper bodies. A lot of masterpieces were produced of these during Kamakura era.
